The final stretch - HELLWEEK.

We're finally done with our CST. Feels like a great achievement, not eating anything for 2 days and having to build our A-frames and little nests from scratch in the virgin forest. The mozzies here were like commandoes, biting through our uniforms and keeping us awake with their buzzing. We had our fill of fire-making and bonding sessions throughout the exercise.

Since it was a totally new area, we had to chop down our own wood. Dangs! It was fun chopping at first but imagine having to hack down 30 trees just within days with a godforsaken parang and a flimsy ET blade. Not much luck with food gathering. We only managed wild bananas and unripe jackfruits.

Having to kill the little birds was a first time for most of us. Imagine the awkward-ness of reaching in a paper crate to pick our quails and then holding them before twisting off their heads. It was a bloody mess cause the headless body was still struggling in my hand as i tore off the feathers. Felt kinda weird scooping out the organs even as the body was still warm. Oh and have i mentioned that the stench was overwhelming? Long after we've done our killing and de-gutting, the pungent and distinctive smell remained.

Not too bad an experience in all but i doubt many of us would wanna go through this again.
